So I decided to throw up an AMA for shits and grins, but I asked a question: How much did I spend to check these three bags on my PHNL to PGUM flight last weekend?
Actual price...
$840. One way. Big pelican case weighed in at 100.0 lbs, green suitcase at 78 lbs, toolbox was 35 lbs, but was checked by another person flying with me because he only had 1 checked bag and it was cheaper to have him check it than me checking a third. I didn't even get a reach around or a free beer on the flight. I could've upgraded to first class for cheaper!

Doesn't a first class upgrade include reduced baggage fees?

May have been cheaper to Fedex them ahead of time. Not that that's easy to do, depending on what's in the cases.

It was comm equipment we may have needed during/after Typhoon Vongfong. That was why we went to Guam.

Thought about that after the fact.
1. It's frowned upon to fly first class on the government's dime.
2. First class was full.

And Hawaii to Guam doesn't count as international travel I bet.

Actually it does because Guam is a territory, not a state.

Did you need your passport?

Yeah, can't plan for that.

Yep. I took it with me because there was a possibility I would've had to get a flight that connected through Narita.
